About a year ago, i submitted a contest piece to the organization i work for (that being HomeLAN). The contest was called "i R lub j00" and was supposed to illustrate what the dreaded v-day was like for nerds. I got myself first place and a copy of Neverwinter Nights (that i gave to katie) and had since forgotten that i had put this flash movie together.
Well, i found it and am posting it on da. yes, it's 3.38mb but well equipt with a preloader. There are a lot of graphical errors in it, but hopefully it should turn out fine with dA's flash resizing engine thingy.
The music is by Lighthouse from their album No Name Face. The pictures were taken with my mom's canon powershot when i was digi-camless.
Dunno how long it runs, but i hope everyone enjoys it.
Thanks to all of which i used the stock photos... i know stylereactor was one of them, with his shot of copenhagen... that's about all i remember. the rest are mine.
i really loved the beginning of this piece. and the very ending. i think those were the two most powerfull bits. there was something about the main mid section of the animation that didnt work for me, or rather, was a slight repetitive, but i understand why it was done like that. its very powerfull. you did a great job

i comment because i think your art is worthy of being critiqued. not cos i whore myself. not cos i care about being returned the favor. cos *you* deserve it. get it through your heads. if you think i deserve something, thats cool too.
That's one of the nicer animations I've seen in quite a while.
Love how it conveys such a profound, sublime message. In something so simple as the fading and emergence of alternating flat photographs. A sort of minimalism, I'd say.
It makes me think. How I'm sitting here. And how much of life I might be missing, from another aspect. Very thought-provoking.
And on technical notes: very nicely-paced, and very drawing for the viewer.
Excellent work James.

You did pull the switch. In a sense. You're not on the computer hardly at all. I can't communicate hardly with you while on it, because your usually distracted, and it's better that I talk to you on the phone about stuff, but I don't get to talk to you much about anything.
So yeah, I've been writing some poetry and shit, and you won't read this until about a week later. (as I only found the deviation just this evening).
Either way, I'd to burn up 120 minutes of your airtime.
At least.
I hate being busy. But I also love not being able to think about something for too long, at least now.
The 25 semi-finalists for our "Darksiders: Your Last Days" contest have been selected! The ultimate winners will be chosen by Joe Madureira, aka "Joe Mad" of Vigil Games. Check out the awesome semi-finalists to see who made the cut!
This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
